1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Omicskills collects and handles personal information when you visit omicskills.com, create an account, purchase or access learning content, attend an event, use community or AI-assisted features, or contact support.

Omicskills is an online bioinformatics education platform operated from Pakistan. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@omicskills.com. This policy does not govern independent third-party websites or services linked from the platform.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the platform.

  • Account and profile information, such as your name, email address, username, profile image, role, country, and authentication records.
  • Transaction information, such as the product purchased, price, currency, order status, payment-provider transaction identifier, refund status, and purchase date. Omicskills does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
  • Learning activity, including enrollments, lesson completion, quiz and assignment results, certificates, learning-path progress, event registration, and recording access or playback thresholds used to apply the refund policy.
  • Content you submit, including reviews, forum posts, replies, questions, support requests, contact-form messages, and information entered into AI-assisted features.
  • Technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device information, approximate country-level location, page activity, referral information, diagnostics, security events, and cookie preferences.

3. How and why we use information

We use personal information for the following purposes and, where applicable, rely on performance of our agreement, legitimate interests, consent, or legal obligations.

  • Create and maintain accounts; deliver courses, learning paths, events, recordings, assessments, certificates, and community features.
  • Process orders, confirm payment, prevent duplicate fulfillment, evaluate refund eligibility, and respond to billing disputes.
  • Provide customer support and send service messages such as enrollment confirmations, event reminders, security notices, and policy updates.
  • Protect accounts and the platform from fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, malware, and other security risks.
  • Measure and improve usability, course quality, and marketing performance when optional analytics consent has been provided.
  • Send promotional email only where permitted and provide a way to unsubscribe from marketing communications.
  • Comply with tax, accounting, consumer-protection, law-enforcement, and other legal requirements.

4. Payments and merchant-of-record services

Paid checkouts are handled by the payment provider identified during checkout. Paddle currently processes supported paid transactions and may act as Merchant of Record. If another approved provider is introduced, its identity and applicable terms will be shown before payment.

The payment provider collects and processes payment credentials under its own privacy policy. Omicskills receives limited order, customer, tax, fraud-screening, and transaction information needed to fulfill the purchase, provide support, and process refunds. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card details.

5. Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies and similar storage are used for login sessions, security, checkout continuity, preferences, and other functions requested by you. These are necessary for the platform to work.

Optional analytics are disabled unless you consent through the cookie controls. You may change or withdraw that choice later. Rejecting optional analytics does not prevent access to purchased content, although disabling essential browser storage may affect account features.

6. AI-assisted features

When you use Omics Ai or another AI-assisted feature, the text you submit and relevant learning context may be sent to an AI service provider to generate a response. Do not enter confidential research data, patient information, passwords, payment credentials, or other sensitive personal information.

AI responses may be incomplete or inaccurate and are provided as learning assistance, not professional scientific, medical, legal, or financial advice.

7. When information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We share limited information only where necessary with service providers, instructors acting on the platform, or authorities with a lawful basis.

  • Payment and merchant-of-record providers for checkout, tax, fraud prevention, receipts, refunds, and disputes.
  • Hosting, database, content-storage, video-delivery, email-delivery, error-monitoring, security, and AI service providers that support platform operation.
  • Course instructors, event organizers, or moderators where needed to deliver the content or manage a discussion, subject to appropriate access controls.
  • Professional advisers, regulators, courts, law-enforcement agencies, or another business in connection with a lawful request, corporate transaction, or protection of legal rights.

8. Public profiles and community content

Information you choose to publish in a public profile, review, forum post, reply, or discussion may be visible to other users and search engines. Do not publish personal or confidential information that you do not want others to see.

Aggregated learner-location statistics may be displayed on the platform, but they are designed not to identify an individual learner.

9. Retention

We retain account and learning records while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide ongoing access, verify certificates, maintain transaction history, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and satisfy legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

When you request account deletion, eligible personal information is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period. Some transaction, security, refund, and legal records may be retained for the period required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls, authentication protections, and payment processing through specialized providers. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

You are responsible for using a strong, unique password, keeping account credentials confidential, and notifying hello@omicskills.com promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

11. International processing

Omicskills serves learners internationally. Personal information may therefore be processed in Pakistan and in countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for cross-border transfers.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. We will verify requests and respond within the period required by applicable law.

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of eligible personal information.
  • Request a portable copy or restriction of certain processing where applicable.
  • Object to certain processing or withdraw consent without affecting processing already performed lawfully.
  • Opt out of marketing communications and optional analytics.
  • Complain to the data-protection authority available in your jurisdiction.

13. Children

Omicskills is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

14. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the platform, providers, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be posted here and may also be communicated through the platform or by email before they take effect when required.

For questions, complaints, or privacy-rights requests, email hello@omicskills.com and use the subject line “Privacy Request.”
